Candy Corn Men

Welcome to our Pre-K Patch!
Here is out outside display for our Pre-K wall. Harvest Hank joined us at the beginning of October, replacing our Owls from the beginning of the year. I really enjoy decorating for the holidays on our outside wall and displaying our holiday crafts and work!
This is our Pre-K Patch. For October we displayed our candy corn men for all to see. The kiddos did such a great job making their men! We used real candy corn as our examples. I passed out candy corn to each child and had them explore them looking to see their shape and the colors on them and what order they were in. Some of the kids had never had candy corn before. After the activity they got to taste the candy corn. EVERYONE loved it. They ate almost the whole bag of Autumn Mix.
Look how cute they are with Harvest Hank!
Another picture of our Candy Corns.
 Here they are again....

Pictures of Harvest hank and his pumpkin patch.
Oh sadly, since today is Halloween tomorrow the Candy corn men come down and get sent home with each special student in my classsroom! I hope their parents love their artwork! Then on Wednesday up go our scarecrows for November!

Book Character Parade & Halloween Celebration

Wow, what a busy 2 weeks it has been! My class has been busy learning and preparing for Halloween. Last week was Red Ribbon Week at school. We dressed up each day to celebrate being DRUG FREE! At the end of the week we had our annual Book Character Parade! I love Book Character Day! It's so cute to see all the students dressed up as their favorite book characters. This year my aide Mrs. Carol Ann and I dressed up as Curious George & the Man with the Yellow Hat! What fun! :) Several of my students had GREAT book character costumes. We had Captain America, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Dorthy from Wizard of Oz, Iron Man, Ariel the Mermaid, Max from Where The Wild Things Are and so many more! Each child was too cute!

After our parade we had our Halloween Celebration in our classroom, where the children filled up with sugary cupcakes and salty chips & dip with a side of fresh healthy fruit :) They also exchanged candy (what I call "trick -or-treating") They thought it was fun to pass out their candy to their friends! I can't believe that after a month of planning and learning about Halloween that tomorrow it will be here and over.
Tomorrow will be a normal school day for us, with a  little halloween-y crafts thrown in here and there. I'm sure when Tuesday rolls around we'll all be hyped up on SUGAR from the night before. Even Mrs. Olson might be a little hyper if we don't have any trick-or-treaters come get these two HUGE bowls full of candy that are staring me down :)

Parents I will post pictures tomorrow!
