I know this post is way overdue, but Kindergarten has been so busy the past 2 weeks. I have had numerous comments on my finished product of my classroom last year with the Owls. I was nervous to change because of the work, money and time but I could not be happier with the final result of the compelete renovation! The other Kindergarten Teacher and I decided to go with a "Kindergarten ROCK STARS" theme this year and we went ALL OUT. Check out the renovations!! I hope you love them!
(above is a view of the front of the room)
My shapes wall. Love these little fellers.
Outer Wall outside of the classrooms. This is my side of the Kindergarten Rocks wall. This is where we display seasonal work of the children for all to see. The guitars have clips on them to hold student work. We now have pictures of the kids in their rock star get up (guitars, microphones, feather boas, bandanas & star glasses) posted on STARS up above their work.
Here is my little reading corner in front of my desk. I am hoping to get 2 pink or black bean bags to be put here for reading time. The polka dot curtain I sewed myself this summer. I love it. I also painted the cabinets this summer too!
Another view of the outer wall. I LOVE the rock stars theme. Love it!
Mesh wreath I made for my door. Good ole' Alabama Roll Tide painting hanging outside to show my support for my favorite team.
This is my Red Carpet Reading Wall. I put this in our Calendar Corner. Its a great area to go for write the room. It's also right near my small group table. I may change out the posters as the year goes on. We've already had one tooth loss! She was so excited to write her name on the August tooth!
Oh my stars. These little color critters are my favorite! They are on the front wall for easy view for the kids while doing writing and journals. Color words are highly importatnt!
Our rock star poster on the outer wall. Stage left!
Yes, I know the word KREW is spelled with a C normally. However, we were trying to match it with the K in Kindergarten. My husband has already told me that's bad grammar. Blah Blah.
This is my BRAVO board in my classroom. On the Bravo board I put up excellent work to display in the room. I love having student artwork up!
Celebrity Birthday Board! Love this. We display their picture on the week of their birthday as our CELEBRITY. They love having a special spot for their picture on their birthday.
Celebrity of the Week. Each week. (Starting next week) One student will be seleted as our Celebrity of the Week. They will get their picture posted on the red carpet and will have their favorites listed on the stars!
Oh....the Word Tour Bus. I was inspired by Abby from The Inspired Apple for the Word Tour Bus. She created one last year that looks 100 times better than mine but I tried! My husband, C and I spent one Monday morning up at school measuring and cutting and gluing the bus together. Let me tell you....this bus will not be coming down. I refuse to make this again! Ha...
This is the back of our room. On the board is our Morning To Do iPod and our Sound Check. Students have guitar picks with their picture on it that they put on every day to show me that they are here. They also move their lunch marble to their lunch choice for the day. I made the lunch trays this summer. They have worked GREAT so far!
This is the spot beside my desk. This is their behavior guitar. They even have glittered pins! Ah...glitter!
This is our jobs board. Their jobs rotate weekly.
Our morning meeting area. I painted the cabinets this summer. I love how everything flows. So colorful!
Where are we board....It has since moved to the other side of the door.
Small group table and Main Stage reading focus board. My main goal this year is to get the crate seating so that the chairs do not block my polka dot skirt I made for the table ths summer.
How do I go home pins on the door. Easily moved when form of transportation changes!
Outer wall again!
Math Focus Board and Calendar. This area has changed a little too. The rocking chair is out of the way now.
Vinyl dots on the floor so they know where to line up.
Another view of morning to do area.
My library file card box. I repainted it this summer. Love.
View from the front door.
Area above our cubbies. Backstage Pass to Kindergarten. Cubbies have name tags inside.
Reading Focus wall.
Rock Star Door.
Golden Spatula Award. This is our lunchroom behavior award. Boys and girls have a competition each day to see who has the best behavior. If the girls win they get a pink straw in the star basket. If the boys win they get a blue straw in the star basket. On Friday, whoever has won the golden spatuala the most during the week will get extra reward such as a prize or extra recess or extra ipad time.
I hope everyone has a great 2012-2013 school year!
