Happy Monday, again!
All these summer days tend to run together for me. But I always know when it is Monday.
The hubs works at our church Willowbrook Baptist here in Huntsville and since Sunday is a work day for him.
He gets the luxury of Monday's off.
I ALWAYS know when it is Monday.
(more like he never lets me forget its "his" off day)
Hate to tell you hubs but summertime = every day my off day!!!
I am linking up again this Monday with 4th Grade Frolics for Made-It Monday!
I haven't been as crafty this week....
slap my hands, shame on me
I have been LAZY.
However, the hubs and I attempted our FIRST use of the jigsaw to make a door hanger...
Here's how it went..
We set everything up and I cut out a small popsicle template to use.
That is one BIG piece of wood. We had to get Daddy-O to take us to Home Depot in his truck for that big ole thang.
I drew out a template and make it much bigger than the itty bitty popsicle you see in the picture above.
The handsome hubs cut out the bite of the popsicle.
<and all of the other parts of the popsicle>
I tried cutting out one side of it and it looked like Jaws had attacked it.
The tracing and painting is my job. He is the official jigsaw cutter man!
And here is the unfinished product.
Please excuse the saw dusted hair and safety goggles.
So the next step was to paint.
I had a HARD time deciding which colors to paint the popsicle.
I'm a HUGE pink fan. I wanted to incorporate it somehow...but it just wasn't right.
I wound up choosing Aqua, Orange and Purple.
The hubs and the in-laws went fishing Saturday morning.
*not my cup of tea*
So while they were out kayaking and fishing, I went for a 3 mile run and started painting.
~~Side note~~ You see that McCafé Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee up there in the right hand corner by the popsicle??? That my friends is my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE iced coffee.
BETTER THAN STARBUCKS ICED COFFEE....
Shhhhhh.....don't tell them that!
My sweet mother-in-love brought that to me before they all went out fishing. She sure knows how to make this sister happy!
So like Forrest Gump, I just kept painting and painting and painting and painting....
And before I knew it.... I was finished!!!!
I had a hard time deciding whether or not to put polka dots on it but I decided to keep it plain.
It still needs a wire hanger and a mesh bow at the top to finish it off.
And of course a spray coat of glitter and sealer!
It looks larger than life but its 18x23...23 in. being how tall it is!
Again, it needs the sealer coat and a mesh bow to be complete but it is finished.
My father -in- love looked at it and immediately wanted a popsicle.
Glad I had some on hand! :)
The next question is....Does anyone want to buy it?
I can personalize it for you.
I think door hangers
MIGHT are my new hobby obsession.
